PRESS RELEASE: SORN FAMILY QUARTET TO PERFORM AT STOCKTON’S RELAY FOR LIFE
The Sorn’s, a Christian music family quartet, is scheduled to perform on June 10th, 2006 at 6:00PM at American Cancer Society’s annual fundraiser - Relay for Life at Weber Point Event Center in Stockton, California.
The quartet -Leakhena, Sophoan, Sakary, and Sofia - will be performing inspirational and Christian contemporary songs along with special guest drummer, Oscar Mata, a native youth from neighboring city, Lodi. The quartet is currently doing a mini-tour called The Aspire Tour 2006 at different churches and venues in northern Central Valley and Bay Area, with an inauguration on April 22nd, 2006 and a Christmas finale. The focus of the tour is celebrating 21 years of family ministry, from the refugee camps between Cambodia and Thailand in the 80's and 90's to the current ministry based in Stockton, California, headed by the quartet’s (children’s) father, Pastor Sophat Sorn.
The Sorn’s expresses: “We feel connected to the millions of people around the world who are affected by the six-letter word - cancer. We ourselves have lost many loved ones to this disease, even a dear friend, recently. This event to us, brings people from all walks of life, all backgrounds, all cultures - to join together and celebrate life, to nurture humanity, and to hopefully find a cure. We will sing, we will smile, and we will pray to the Lifegiver!”
According to American Cancer Society: “Relay For Life. is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money to help the American Cancer Society save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back against this disease. Relay is much more than a walk around a track. It is a time to remember those lost to cancer and celebrate those who have survived. Relay gives you the power to help accelerate the Society’s advancement toward a future where cancer doesn't take the lives of our friends and family." The Sorn's will be joining various musicians, community advocates, and youths who are volunteering their skills and talents at this event.
