THE HAGGIN MUSEUM MEDIA RELEASE

STOCKTONSpeaks!
A Photo Essay

January 9 - March 6, 2005
Pioneer Room

STOCKTONSpeaks! is an oral history project that showcases a collection of multi-generational “coming-of-age” stories from 18 Stockton families, belonging to nine ethnic groups.

The Haggin Museum, represented by Marilyn Guida, has been one of the groups helping to plan and oversee this collaborative effort between the Jacoby Center at University of the Pacific, the City of Stockton, and a variety of community organizations.

As part of this partnership, the museum is delighted to host a special display of photographs by Sophoan Sorn, Chi Lang Cheng and Loreen Huey. These talented Stockton photographers took photographs of the 54 individuals who told their stories to trained community volunteers. Museum visitors will have the opportunity to read these compelling stories of moving from childhood to adulthood, thanks to a compilation of the collected stories for perusal in the Pioneer Room. CD-ROMs of the project are also available at the display and are free of charge.
